Landed Tucker Cove, Perseverance Harbour Saturday 4th December 2021. In cold grey skies, we climbed to Col Peak on continuous boardwalk, encountering Southern Royals at close range on several occasions. Making our own time, we stood in quiet wonder – filming, sketching, just observing for many minutes. The encounter with the Royal enroute to nest was eye to eye, both bird and human sizing each other up – no fear or flight from either party. The party of four Southern Royals were uninterested in bystanders, courting on their minds. From Col Peak we gazed West down to Northwest Bay, Complex Point and Dent Island.
